I am currently CLOSED to review requests.
I plan to open to reviews again in August 2013. At that time, I would love the chance to review your book, especially new and aspiring authors. I am always eager to give a new author a little extra publicity. Of course, I am also open to established authors. Writers and publishers may send a review request to theediblebookshelf@gmail.com.
I am also happy to accept guest posts, author interviews, giveaways, or promote an event related to the book.
I offer 3-day feature with all reviews. The basic schedule is as follows:
- Wednesday: Introduce the book, Author bio, links to author/book websites
- Thursday: Author interview or guest post
- Friday: Review
- copy of the book
- author bio and photo (photo optional)
- links for purchase of the book
- links for author/book websites
- book summary
- artwork for the book cover
- answered author interview questions/guest post (if you opt for the interview I will email the questions 1-2 weeks before the review is scheduled)
Right now the wait time to have your book reviewed is about 4-6 months, so be sure to contact me in advance if you have an event you would like to schedule around.

What I Will Review
Mystery, Suspense, Thriller (not too gory or graphic please), YA of almost any genre, Middle Grade of almost any type, Literary and Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Dystopia, Paranormal, and Urban Fantasy. I'm also exploring Graphic Novels right now.
I will also post links to where your book is available for purchase when I announce your book on the blog.
What I Will NOT Review
Erotica, Poetry, Nonfiction, Self-Help, Politics, Memoir, Biographies
I do not enjoy books with heavy profanity, graphic violence or sex, or racist themes.
If it is not a book I am willing to read, I will politely decline the opportunity.
Where I Post Reviews
I post my reviews on my blog, Goodreads, Facebook, and if requested I will post on a book seller website such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Smashwords.
My Kind of Reviews
I give my honest opinion of the books I read. I do critique the strength of the writing as well as story and characters, because I believe a truly great book should have both good writing and good storytelling. I try not to publish too many spoilers, but I do like to point out specific aspects of the book that I liked. I also like to post more than just a review of the book. If something really appeals to me while reading I will post a comment about that section. Along with the review I also like to post comments on some of the books strong or interesting points, such as favorite characters, best lines, funny situations, etc. I believe this gives readers a better sense of the book, and it doesn't hurt that it keeps your book at the top of the blog for a little longer.
I am enjoying your site! I'm an archaeologist and a college professor, and my archaeological mystery - American Caliphate - was published in April. Can I sent it to you for review?

William,
DeleteI looked into your book and it sounds very interesting. I would love the chance to review it. If you could send me the details at theediblebookshelf@gmail.com I can schedule a date to feature your book.
Thanks,
DelSheree
Found you on Goodreads. May I add my book to your "to do" review list? It's a paranormal mystery, "Reluctant Medium." I'm a new book author, but not new to writing, having been a journalist. If you'd like to check out my blog for more info: http://reluctantmediumatlarge.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, G G Collins
